Our world is changing fast. What used to work in calm water no longer works in turbulence. Every leader, every organization needs to check what anchors you, and where the wind is taking you. Your anchor and sails need to be in good condition. NOW is the time to check whether your anchor is sound, or if you have one in the first place: What does your brand stand for? What are your invariable values, beliefs, and purposes that keep you from capsizing in a storm?
Being anchored does not mean slow to change. The whole purpose of your ship is to sail to your destination, to catch the wind by trimming your sails. You need to use the wind to your advantage. While you cannot control the AI or economic winds, you can prepare the sails. Are they in good shape? Do you have executable plans and strategies to pivot with the winds? Are you sailing where YOUR fish will be, or just following a stampeding crowd?
A good way to check both your anchor and sails, is to have a brand audit: It ensures that you will sail through choppy water unscathed.
