In December 2021, we at 10 Plus Brand will celebrate the 10th episode of Interviews of Notables and Influencers, since this podcast and video series launched on December 30th, 2020.
You can find all 10 interviews on our website: 10PlusBrand.com, or under the #10PlusInterviews on social media.
People asked me: How did you know these people?
Well, I am NOT a star-chaser or celebrity worshiper, neither am I very much into pop culture. I celebrate ORDINARY people doing extraordinary things, as well as the “rich and famous” AS LONG AS what each of them does, personally, makes a difference to humanity, in large or small ways.
I was also asked: What made billionaires and globally famed investors like Tim Draper agree to come to your show, twice?
Here is what Tim Draper said, in his own words: “GREAT questions, Joanne, GREAT QUESTIONS!”
By the way, I keep challenging Tim, like my other guests, and don’t always agree with what he says. And that’s the point: challenge different perspectives, respectfully.
The quality of questions, and genuine curiosity in learning about what people do and what they are passionate about, – this is the first part of my “secret sauce” for many more upcoming Interviews of Notables and Influencers.
Another part of my ‘secret sauce” is the question I ask every guest on my podcast: What does your brand stand for? Most of the time, their answers are long. I often summarize with fewer than six words that uplift and amplify their brands, as a parting gift to each of my honored guests.
These interviews are great ways for learning about how notables and influencers create and maintain their personal brands, directly from themselves.
You may also ask:
Mastery of the art of questioning is crucial. Forgive me for tooting my own horn (an “occupational hazard” for brand marketers,) I was trained in law school and journalism, where asking questions is part of the game. More importantly, I had a liberal arts education that gave me a broad and deep understanding of humanity, society, and socio-economic issues. I am also passionate about the arts.
Three things contribute to great questioning: 1) diversity of interests, 2) analytical skills from law and business training, 3) curiosity and care about people and issues.
I am less interested in making anyone famous than sharing with the public their insights, cutting edge information, and personal stories.
Being a celebrity alone does not automatically qualify one for an interview as a notable or an influencer, unless the content of the interview has substance that will benefit people other than themselves. After all, that’s what personal brand building is all about.
Today while we all are flooded with opinions, and noise on social media and TV, the general public is suffering from a famine of in-depth insights from respected sources.
Misinformation and disinformation are often the result of quick and shallow media sound bites–often biased, unquestioned, and opinionated.
To quench the public’s thirst for QUALITY information, and different perspectives explored in respectful manners, and to enrich each other’s humanity by listening to each other’s stories, I am proud to celebrate this milestone, and look forward to more to come!
